Essential oils at home: how to use them?

Essential oils can be used at home not only to create a pleasant scent. They can be vaporized in a diffuser or aroma lamp, and some, when properly diluted, can also be used for body or hair care.Essential oils at home: how to use them?

One of the easiest ways to use essential oils at home is to vaporize them. This is most commonly done using a diffuser or aroma lamp. Both methods spread the aroma throughout the room, but they work slightly differently.

Diffuser – to spread aroma without heating

By adding a few drops of essential oil to the water tank, the diffuser spreads the aroma with a light mist. This way, the scent unfolds in the space gradually and evenly.

Aroma lamp – a traditional method of vaporization

Water is poured into the upper jar and a few drops of essential oil are added. A candle burning below heats the water, and the aroma gradually spreads throughout the room. When using an aroma lamp, it is important to ensure that the water in the jar does not run out and not to leave the burning candle unattended.

How much essential oil to use?

Since essential oils are concentrated, you usually only need a small amount. The exact amount depends on the oil you choose and how you use it, so it's best to follow the recommendations for the specific product.

For example, just a few drops are often enough for room vaporization. For body or hair care, essential oils are used only when mixed with a base oil – for some oils, 1 drop with 15 g of base oil may be enough, for massage 1-2 drops, and for a bath – a few drops mixed with milk, honey or sea salt.

It is important to remember that different essential oils may have different amounts and uses, so it is always worth checking the recommendations for a specific product before using it.

Different oils can complement each other

Essential oils can be used alone or in combination. Some combinations can be fresher, others softer or richer. If you want to try several aromas together, it is best to start with two oils and a small amount of each - this way it is easier to feel how the scents go together.

Uses are not limited to just home fragrance

Depending on the oil you choose, its uses may not be limited to just home fragrance. Some essential oils, when mixed with a carrier oil, can be used for body or hair care, massage, or bath applications. In such cases, it is important to follow the product's usage recommendations and the specified proportions.
